It didn’t. Ok, what are your options? Your doctor may have recommended surgery, therapy or a combination of both. If you have been battling a painful, stiff shoulder for any length of time you may have resorted to treatment measures outside of logical thinking to relieve your pain. I’ve had patients tell me they have used everything from mustard poultices to lubricants made for car parts in attempt to cure frozen shoulder pain.

As long as their method is not directly harmful to them I do not try to argue them down because 1) If they believe it is working I will not succeed in changing their mind, and 2) the person will likely be more receptive to my clinical treatment if I am not argumentative to their beliefs.

However, this is not an article on patient psychology, but the above leads me to answer the question “will exercise cure a frozen shoulder pain?”.

Research shows that most cases of frozen shoulder pain are “self-limiting” or resolved within 2 years of onset no matter the course of treatment. That’s fine, but who wants to live with an arm that is 50% useful at best if they can do something NOW to increase function and range of motion? Therefore while some view that exercise itself cannot cure frozen shoulder pain.

There are many different conditions which may cause this pain. These conditions may include shortening or thickening of the tendons in the capsule of the shoulder, scar tissue, tendonitis, inflammation, bursitis, or rotator cuff injuries.
Rotator cuff injuries are a significant cause of frozen shoulder because of the period of immobility which is required for recovery. This immobility may cause severe stiffness. Those patients who have had past chest surgeries, diabetes, or chronic-inflammatory arthritis in the shoulder will have a much higher odd of developing the shoulder pain.

There are some other medical conditions which may mimic frozen shoulder pain, but are diagnosed differently. Arthritis in the shoulder is a big one as it can result in swelling, stiffness, pain, and occasionally an injury to the rotator cuff. Rotator cuff injuries will differ from frozen shoulder in that the range of motion loss with a rotator cuff injury is usually restricted to a certain direction. Frozen shoulder pain will have a total loss of mobility.

The effect of frozen shoulder pain is very obvious. When inflammation begins in the shoulder joint, it becomes “sticky”. This “stickiness” leads to pain and stiffness which will make the arm very difficult to move. At times, it may freeze up completely.

The three stages of frozen shoulder pain are freezing, frozen, and thawing. The beginning stage is called the freezing stage because the arm is just starting to freeze up. The end stage is called the thawing stage because the patient will begin to feel some relief and will gradually regain movement in the arm. The middle stage is the frozen stage when the patient has no ability to move the arm at all.

Frozen shoulder pain symptoms are very odd. A patient may wake up one day unable to move the arm and shoulder, or they may notice the symptoms come on very gradually. There are treatments available for frozen shoulder, such as deep heat ultrasound massages and various forms of physical therapy. However, these treatments are usually a last resort as most doctors prefer to not treat the condition at all.

My patients describe it as tingly, sharp, dull, throbbing and aching. Whatever your leg pain feels like, it can be a source of discomfort and inhibit your ability to stand for long periods, put weight on your leg or simply perform everyday activities. Though it has a variety of causes, there are some common conditions known to result in leg pain. Let’s take a look and discuss solutions that will get you back on your feet.

You know the leg pain. It is characterized by pain that begins in the lower back and moves down the leg, typically down the back. The sciatic nerve runs from the lower back and down the back of the leg. There are several causes for this condition including inflammation of the nerve itself. In some cases, the condition is caused by overexertion, and sometimes it is caused by putting too much pressure on the nerve simply by sitting in a poor position.

Treatment:

1. Drinking plenty of water and eating fruits can help in good functioning of the muscles, which in turn helps to manage leg pain.

2. To get rid of your leg pain and sciatica pain. Your doctor will usually recommend therapy in the form of chiropractic therapy and physical therapy. Treatment will usually consist of massage therapy, electric muscle stimulation, stretching exercises and strengthening exercises.

3. The best prevention for sports related leg and ankle pain is to first perform some walm – up exercises, and make sure you stretch your limbs, to loosen the tendons. Do some cardio exercises to get the blood pumping, and make sure to drink plenty of fluids.

4. Padma is a highly researched alternative health supplement, consisting of 18 herbs, no joke. In the Tibetan tradition, health and wellness maintain your body’s equilibrium. Circumstances such as deficient diet, lifestyle, stress and seasonal conditions can disturb that balance. The carefully chosen herbs in Padma support the body’s natural function to maintain good health and balance.

5. Extension is simple to learn and universally accepted to be a beneficial treatment for leg and low back pain relief. Just remember that as long as the pain is migrating toward the center of your back, and away from your leg, you are making progress.

6. You can go for a medical massage which will involve the use of anti inflammatory drugs and ointments. This will surely speed up your recovery. Therefore, if you feel that your pain is too much to handle, do not stay at home and wish it away. There are many options in the market.

7. In the case of adjudication due to poor circulation, you can avoid complications by not smoking and monitoring your cholesterol levels. High cholesterol can lead to atherosclerosis. A healthy diet of produce and whole grains that is low in saturated fat and salt can help many people. Natural supplements to fight high cholesterol may also be useful. You should continue to exercise under a doctor’s supervision in order to train your muscles to use oxygen more efficiently and strengthen your legs in the long run.

The neck is quite susceptible to injury and this is mainly due to the any muscular dysfunction or deterioration in the anatomical structures like the shoulder blade, collar bone, or joint that lead to mobility problems and pain. Muscle spasms, dislocation and deformity in certain ligament and joints etc. are to be taken serious concerned to get rid of neck pain. Neck pain is such an experience which hurts and down us along with tears and grief.

Many conditions including some life threatening troubles like major traumas and heart attack may cause severe neck pain. It can range from minor, temporary pain, to sustained pain in different parts of the back, neck or shoulders or involve the pinching of nerves, affecting the legs or arms. The causes of back pain vary and can often be a combination of factors. Some of the factors identified by practitioners are set out below.

Sprains and strains An out-of-condition back or one with pre-existing problems is more vulnerable to soft tissue injuries like sprains and strains. A sprain isa joint injury that involves stretching or tearing of the ligaments. A strainisan injury to muscle or tendons. Stretching a ligament or muscle too quickly can result in a tear. Excessive force and certain repetitive use may also damage muscles.

Disc problems The intervertebral discs are the cushions between our vertebrae. These discs dry out and harden with age, making them susceptible to injury. Common disc complaints involve the disc bulging (prolapse), herniating or even rupturing.

Most disc problems arise from sustained stress or injury and may be caused by back strain (such as when lifting).

Muscle Imbalance/Poor Posture Muscle imbalances often involve certain muscles losing their natural functioning and over-working or being under utilised. This can happen as a result of lifestyle stress and bad habits of body use over a sustained period. Muscle imbalance can lead to or work in tandem with bad posture to result in such back problems as chronic back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain or frozen shoulder.

Emotional/neuromuscular causes Sustained stress or emotional trauma can cause muscular tension to be “held” unconsciously in the body leading to back pain.

Structural Problems Structural problems involving the spine can cause back pain. These include the following:

Scoliosis – an excessive sideways curve of either the upper or lower regions of the spine.

Kyphosis – sometimes referred to as “hunchback”, this is an excessive outward curve of the upper back.

Disease Diseases that can affect the spine and cause back pain include:

Ankylosing spondylitis – a disease that causes inflammation in spinal joints and limb joints potentially leading to fusion of vertebrae

Arthritis – especially osteoarthritis, involves cartilage that normally cushions joints breaking down.

Osteoporosis – is a condition involving thinning of the bones. It commonly occurs in women after the menopause but can also affect men.

Sciatica

Sciatica is nerve pain from the sciatic nerve, a nerve that runs from the spine through the buttock and down the back of the leg. Sciatica is often caused by a disc bulge or prolapse pressing on the spinal nerve. Other causes can include a narrowing of the nerve tunnel between discs as a result of osteoarthritis. These are the most common cause of your back pain.

Arm pain can transpire at work, at home, while messing sports, or additionally endeavoring on your preferred hobbies. When your arm muscles are overworked, you can get intense inflammation in the arm muscles and tendons. When muscles get overworked, your tendons get irritated and inflamed. This is usually where you feel the pain. The pain often shows up at the elbow or shoulder, where the muscle crosses a joint. This is where the tendon is likely to be rubbing across a bony surface, causing the painful inflammation. But there are many self-care practices that can relieve your pain, simply and naturally.

For instant relief, you can immediately use basic first aid self-care. Rest Ice Compression Elevation First, stop the activity that is causing the pain. Rest the arm. While you are resting it, hold ice (or a cold compress like a gel-pack or bag of frozen peas) on the painful area. Ease the painful area with compression. This can be done by compressing the ice or cold-pack onto the area in pain.

Last, elevate the arm. Hold it up, and rest it in a lifted position, to allow the blood-flow to leave the area. These steps will allow the area to cool down and stop working so hard. When the pain has ceased, these two exercises can provide relief. They can give instant relief, and also help the muscles and tissues to heal long-term.

1) Stretch the arms- Focus on the biceps, forearms, elbows, and wrists. For a good biceps stretch, try to straighten the arm. Most biceps stretches aren’t done properly because the elbow stays bent. To get a better biceps stretch, pull the shoulder back and keep the elbow taut.

2) Strengthen the triceps and back-posture muscles. If the pain is from overworked bicep muscles, then your triceps may be under-worked. Try some triceps dip and extensions. However, if the pain in your arm is because you strained your triceps, then avoid any triceps-strengthening exercises. This combination of basic first aid and exercises should provide instant relief to overworked arm muscles.

These steps can help ease your arm pain.
